For 200 years—since 1817—the New York Academy of Sciences has brought together extraordinary people working at the frontiers of discovery. Moving from knowledge dissemination to action, the Academy brings individuals and organizations together to drive real-world solutions to global challenges. Whether through public-private partnerships, open innovation challenges, or on-the-ground programming and publications, the Academy and its network are tackling some of the world’s most pressing concerns, including global malnutrition, early childhood development, and improving access to STEM education in underserved communities.

Throughout the Academy’s history its Membership has included thinkers and innovators from all walks of life, including U.S. Presidents Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe, scientists Thomas Edison, Charles Darwin, Margaret Mead, Barbara McClintock, and many more. Today, the Academy’s membership numbers over 20,000 in 100+ countries. Over 30 Nobel Laureates are members of the Academy’s President’s Council and its distinguished Board of Governors includes leaders from business, academia, and philanthropy.

ANNALS

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences is one of the oldest published scientific journals published in the United States, and among the top ten cited multidisciplinary scientific journals worldwide. Continuously published since 1823, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences is the premier publication of the New York Academy of Sciences, offering Review, Perspective, and Commentary articles in several topical areas, in addition to Original Research Articles in select areas of biological sciences. Although primarily focused in biomedicine and biology, the scope of Annals extends into diverse fields such as psychology, anthropology, and philosophy. Edited in consultation with experts in their fields, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences is rigorously peer reviewed and available worldwide.
